One of 38 regional natural parks in France, the Parc Amorique has within it the highest mountains in Brittany (the Mont D’Arree), the lovely Aulne estuary, beautiful coast and pretty small villages.
L’Ecluse Treziguidy is on the River Aulne, just outside the bustling riverside market tow of Château in and near Playben with its magnificent parish church with its 16th century Calvary. The church Calvaries of Ministered are unique and artistic and many enthusiasts travel to the Department especially to tour round the. They are walled cemeteries around churches and most can be found within the Parc Amorique. Playben provides an example of one of the larges and grandest and is constantly surrounded by people with cameras.
In Chateaulin you will find all the facilities that a major regional town can offer and on its outskirts, near to the cottages, is Port Luanay with its free mooring for boats and with your nearest boulangeries that opens every day of the week.
Treziguidy is ideally situated only 25 minutes from Brest airport, an hour from Roscoff and two and a half hours from St. Malo. A 20 minute drive west takes you to the vast beaches and quaint fishing harbours of the Crozon Peninsula. To the north you can discover the dramatic North Finistere coastline, whilst only 15 minutes south you can be in the beautiful medieval city of Quimper with its impressive architecture and narrow backstreets full of character – and marvellous shops!
Just 45 minutes south west will take you out to the Point du Raz, a breathtaking peninsular with an enjoyable walk out to the headland with its impressive and much-photographed lighthouses.
Inland, and still part of the Parc, is Huelgoat the mysterious ‘high woods’ full of Arthurian myth and legend.
This corner of Brittany is so diverse and accessible it’s like finding all of Brittany within one manageable area.
